Boyfriend gets lifetime sex offender status for cellphone video - Winston-Salem Journal: State / Region

"This is why mandatory sentencing is ineffective. Judges need to have the discretion to look at a case and do what they know is right based on the circumstances of the case. The sex offender registry has more young guys like this registered than those who are dangerous and pose a risk to our communities. Our sex offender policies are ineffective. There are hundreds and thousands of pages of research stating exactly this, so why do we continue to pass ineffective laws which do nothing to keep us safer, nothing to stop the cycle of abuse and continue to ruin the lives of our families and citizens who should be productive members of society. We need to demand our legislators pass laws which are evidence based and when they write these bills they should have to substantiate what research supports this policy.

"STOP FEEL GOOD LEGISLATION". We should be getting a return on our investment as tax payers so we are not a nation of the incarcerated....

EVERYONE deserves a second chance!"
